What we know and what we don’t know about Lot’s wife
(Genesis 19)

From the Torah we know that Lot’s wife became a pillar of salt. Contrary to the G-d’s command she looked back at Sodom and Gomorrah. Why?
The commentators say that she was curious – as every woman is. But the Torah doesn’t mention that she was punished. The rabbis gave her a name – Idit. It means – witness.
How can we explain it?
